OBESE!!!

today was a complete eye opener.  in high school i never really thought i was fat maybe a little chunky but today i went to the doctor to renew my birth control and he indicated concern for my weight and informed me that my blood pressure is really high and that my height and weight put me in the obese range… who would have thought?….me..obese…. I was so devastated… I remember I used to eat healthy and work out all the time… i guess i kinda let my son become an excuse to “let myself go”… I dont know how to start with this whole weight loss thing…im so out of shape… food has a hold on me..is it possible to be addicted to food… I just know i cant go on being “obese”… I need a lifestyle change… not just for me but for my son so i can do the things with him that mothers are supposed to do

Welcome, ladybird. You can so totally do this!! My first suggestion would be to ask your doc for a referral to a clinical nutritionist & look for wellness centers attached to hospitals - they tend to be very good deals and often have child care.

One step at the time girl. That’s all it takes. I don’t know how old your son is but active games with him would be a great way to getting into some exercise. Good luck, you can do it. I also agree with Gallavant.. very good suggestion to go find a nutritionist that can help you get on the right path when it comes to eating.

well first off welcome. You have come to the right place. Have you talked to your dr about this? He can get yo on a great plan. But it is really simple burn more calories than you consume which means.. move ( walking is recommended to begin with) drink half your body weight in ounces of water ( so if you are 240 that means 120 ounces) and track what you eat. Make healthy food choices which is tough but with lots of determination and self control it can be done .. Many here are living proof of that.
    I recommend a food journal..
If you have any questions everyone is here to help you.. YOU CAN DO THIS> love yourself enough to do it

every single day i write down everything i eat…i dont care if you see a big mound of m and msand you just eat 3 of them…write it down…if you put a small amount of butter on a piece of toast..write it down…every single thing that goes into your mouth…food and drink…write it down…then get online and go to www.calorieking.com and figure out how many calories are in what you ate….figure out how many calories you eat every single day….and also figure out how many calories you are supposed to be eating every day…you are obviously getting too many calories with what you eat right now…which is why you gained weight…so make sure to start out with…you get the amount of calories you are supposed to be getting according to your height, weight, and activity level…and then start slowly decreasing the amount of calories you eat every day….untill you are losing consistently and are comfortbale with the amount of food you are eating and are satisfied for the most part….OH AND ABSOLUTELY ITIS POSSIBLE TO BE ADDICTED TO FOOD…MOST OF US ON THIS WEBSITE ARE ADDICTED TO FOOD!!!!…at least you know that you are and are ready to make a change….welcome to buddyslim!

weight watchers points are the easiest for me..If you can’t spend the money on meetings you can find so much info on line. Something with counting points instead of calories works for me! I think it tricks my brain, lol. Same thing with w.w. you write down what you eat everyday, and you get extra points for when you go out or want to eat more. Just a thought but you have to find what works for you. This site is a great tool for weight loss. You will find so much support here! Your taking the first step! Congrats and welcome=) YOU CAN DO THIS!!!
